Reporting to the Vice Provost Academic, the Director, Academic Partnerships & Planning serves as a key member of the Provost’s team and actively positions the university to be a key partner with the government through the alignment of key academic initiatives with government policy/funding. The Director, Academic Partnerships & Planning advances the academic mission, reputation and strategic directions of the University by maintaining positive working relationships with government and governmental agencies, serving as liaison between the university and its partners. This position also works closely with senior academic administration and professional/ management staff within the Provost’s office and across the institution to facilitate mutually beneficial engagement of Faculties, Divisions and units. The incumbent provides timely and strategic advice, resolves issues, is responsible for project management/coordination and must be able to exercise discretion and diplomacy with internal and external partners. Given York’s unique position within the provincial/national postsecondary education sector, the incumbent actively seeks to place York in an advantageous position to achieve maximum benefit and influence the development of public policy. The position demands breadth and depth of knowledge, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, has a demanding workload (including occasional irregular work hours) but is rewarding.
