Job Description

The Education Approval Consultant is responsible for the management of the Nursing Education Program Approval program and collaborates with the Nursing Education Program Approval Board (NEPAB).


Your primary responsibilities

  • Coordinate the review for approval and re-approval of entry level nursing education programs in Alberta
  • Interpret and advise on the requirements for program approval and re-approval to applicants, CARNA, government departments, employers, the public and other stakeholders
  • Provide guidance to nursing education program administration and faculty on matters related to standards for entry-level nursing education and prepare for the program approval/re-approval process
  • Monitor, analyze and communicate to NEPAB on existing and emerging regulatory, policy and nursing education trends, including legislative developments in Alberta and across Canadian and international jurisdictions
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with applicants and stakeholders
  • Research and develop standards, policy and procedures for NEPAB review and approval

You possess 

  • Master’s degree in nursing, PhD preferred
  • 10–14 years of experience in a combination of change leadership, post-secondary educational design and delivery, legislation and right touch regulation, stakeholder engagement, project management and policy development
  • Exceptional relationship building skills
  • Innovative approach to complex problems with a view to what is possible
  • A demonstrated ability to inspire a shared vision and to empower and motivate a team
  • Good standing with CARNA, or eligibility for registration
