DIVISION OF CARDIAC SURGERY
UNIVERSITY OF OTTAWA HEART INSTITUTE
Part-time or full-time position as first or second surgical assistant working closely with the cardiac surgeon in the operating room. The candidate must have experience in conduit harvesting (Vein, Radial Artery).
Endoscopic harvest training is a plus but not required. The candidate will also have the opportunity to perform heart retrieval. Training in both will be provided.
The operative schedule consists of 1-2 cases/day. The on-call coverage is 1/4-6 and includes weekends. The payment model is according to fee-for-service with on-call stipend from MOHC. The academic responsibilities include a combination of teaching, supervision of undergraduate and postgraduate trainees and scholarly activity.
The ideal candidate would be a general practitioner or surgeon with experience in cardiac, vascular or thoracic surgery preferably with a current certification from the (CCFP or RCPSC). The candidate must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO).
