Quincy Posted 17 Days Ago1559850

Company Information

BPS and Blessing Hospital are headquartered in Quincy, Illinois, population 50,000, which is located on high limestone bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River near the westernmost point of Illinois.  Quincy is renowned for its natural beauty, preservation of its exceptional stock of Victorian Era homes, and its highly developed programs in the arts.  It has a highly diverse economic and employment base, and consistently has one of the lowest unemployment rates in Illinois.  It has been cited as one of the 50 top small arts communities in the U.S. and one of the Top 100 small cities in which to live in the U.S.  In 2010, Forbes Magazine rated it as the 8th Best Small City in the U.S. to Raise a Family.

The community also offers excellent public and parochial schools, a public 2-year community college, a private 4-year university, two private vocational colleges, fine dining, expansive and well developed parks, and abundant recreational facilities. An $89 million school bond issue was passed in 2014.  Five new state-of-the art elementary schools are being built to replace aging and outdated buildings. An addition will be built at Quincy Senior High to make room for 9th graders. This will move the district to a configuration of five K-5 elementary schools, grades 6-8 at the current junior high, and grades 9-12 at QHS. Technology updates will be made at all schools. Students will be provided an updated and engaging learning environment to prepare them for success in an increasingly technology driven world.

There is also fine dining, expansive and well developed parks, and abundant recreational facilities.  Quincy is located two hours from St. Louis, three and a half hours from Kansas City, and four hours from Chicago.  Daily flights connect Quincy’s Baldwin Field with Chicago O’Hare International Airport, and Amtrak provides two round trips daily to Chicago.

Situation

Blessing Physician Services (BPS) is a 85+ member group of employed providers offering services in 15 different specialties.  It is part of the Blessing Health System, the largest provider of medical care in the 350,000 population Tri-State Area composed of West Central Illinois, Northeast Missouri, and Southeast Iowa.  The System also operates Blessing Hospital, a 307-bed regional referral center in Quincy, and Illini Community Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Pittsfield, Illinois, (population 4,300).  As a not-for-profit system, we accept all patients regardless of their economic condition or insurance coverage.  The System is financially strong and continues to grow to meet the demands of our service area.  Blessing Physician Services is housed in a newer 140,000 square feet clinic building connected by air-bridge to the Hospital, which offers maximum efficiency and convenience for physicians.  Blessing Hospital was named a Top 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare (2011) and is in the top 10% nationally in computer technology. The GI Center has 3 procedure rooms and 8 pre/post rooms.  Patients are admitted and recovered in the same room.  Procedures are done under conscious/moderate sedation given via IV under the direction of the gastroenterologist.  Any sedation requiring anesthesia – such as MAC – is performed in surgery due to anesthesia equipment needs.

There is currently a one-physician, on nurse practitioner Gastroenterology Department that would like to add 2 high quality, full-time G.I. specialist.  We expect all of our physicians to be Board Certified (or Board Eligible if coming out of training), to pursue clinical excellence, deliver outstanding patient satisfaction, and work agreeably as part of a team.  Physician satisfaction and retention within BPS are exceptional, and we desire to add doctors who are committed to maintaining that level of success.  The ability to perform ERCP would be a plus.
