Blessing Physician Services (BPS) is a 85+ member group of employed providers offering services in 15 different specialties. It is part of the Blessing Health System, the largest provider of medical care in the 350,000 population Tri-State Area composed of West Central Illinois, Northeast Missouri, and Southeast Iowa. The System also operates Blessing Hospital, a 307-bed regional referral center in Quincy, and Illini Community Hospital, a 25-bed critical access hospital in Pittsfield, Illinois, (population 4,300). As a not-for-profit system, we accept all patients regardless of their economic condition or insurance coverage. The System is financially strong and continues to grow to meet the demands of our service area. Blessing Physician Services is housed in a newer 140,000 square feet clinic building connected by air-bridge to the Hospital, which offers maximum efficiency and convenience for physicians. Blessing Hospital was named a Top 100 Best Places to Work in Healthcare (2011) and is in the top 10% nationally in computer technology. The GI Center has 3 procedure rooms and 8 pre/post rooms. Patients are admitted and recovered in the same room. Procedures are done under conscious/moderate sedation given via IV under the direction of the gastroenterologist. Any sedation requiring anesthesia – such as MAC – is performed in surgery due to anesthesia equipment needs.
There is currently a one-physician, on nurse practitioner Gastroenterology Department that would like to add 2 high quality, full-time G.I. specialist. We expect all of our physicians to be Board Certified (or Board Eligible if coming out of training), to pursue clinical excellence, deliver outstanding patient satisfaction, and work agreeably as part of a team. Physician satisfaction and retention within BPS are exceptional, and we desire to add doctors who are committed to maintaining that level of success. The ability to perform ERCP would be a plus.
