The Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Medicine and Schulich School of Medicine & Dentistry and London Health Sciences Centre and St. Joseph’s Health Care London are inviting applications for a Senior Lead in Perioperative Echocardiography clinical academic faculty position in our affiliated teaching hospitals. Rank and appointment status (limited term or continuing) will be determined by experience and qualifications at the time of appointment. Candidates must hold an MD or equivalent and be eligible for licensure in the Province of Ontario. Specialist certification in Anesthesiology from the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or equivalent is required.
The Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Medicine has a cadre of excellent cardiac echocardiographers, and is seeking a Corporate Lead for Perioperative Echocardiographic/Point of Care ultrasound and Perioperative Echocardiography/point of care ultrasound Fellowship. The successful candidate will also work with the Postgraduate Residency Program Director on developing Perioperative Echocardiography / Point of Care ultrasound postgraduate curriculum including aspects for Competency By Design.
The applicant should have Advanced Certification in Perioperative Echocardiography with cardiovascular fellowship and training in transthoracic echocardiography. Additional certification in echocardiography as a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography (FASE) is desirable. Prior demonstrated leadership in Perioperative Echocardiography education programs is required.
The applicant should have proven administrative and clinical care expertise, including a leadership position in Perioperative Echocardiography service at a senior level. Successful completion of administrative and leadership courses is highly desirable.
Ideally, the successful candidate will have a record of proven research ability and productivity and have the ability to act as a research career mentor for trainees. Formal training in research and prior experience as a researcher is expected. Consideration of applicants will include an assessment of previous performance in teaching and research, qualifications and experience. Candidates that have a demonstrated ability in the identified areas of opportunities will be given priority.
As a clinical academic, the successful candidate will also fulfill the role of educator or researcher, role model and supervisor for our undergraduate medical students, anesthesia residents and clinical/research fellows. Candidates must have demonstrated the ability to collaborate effectively with other members of the health care team and administrative staff.
