Academic Infectious Diseases Physician 

The Department of Medicine at Queen’s University is seeking a qualified Academic Infectious Diseases Physician to fulfill a Clinician-Scholar role, with a special interest in Transplant ID. 

The ideal candidate will possess methodologic and/or content expertise in an area that complements the existing strengths of Queen’s infectious disease and microbiology research community.   The Academic Infectious Diseases Physician will act as a consultant for busy inpatient and outpatient services provided by the Kingston Health Sciences Centre. The successful candidate must provide evidence of exemplary clinical service, strong potential for teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels in the School of Medicine, the ability to work in a collaborative environment, excellent communication skills and an emerging or strong academic portfolio. 

The successful candidate must have subspecialty training and Royal College certification in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases. Preference will be given to candidates who have completed further training in an area of direct relevance to Transplant ID, such that they have a demonstrated ability to contribute to excellence in this area. Examples of such training would include completion of a relevant graduate (MSc or PhD) degree or comparable postgraduate fellowship training program in Transplant ID. The candidate must hold an MD degree, and be eligible for licensure by the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. Preference will be given to those who either hold or are eligible for certification in Infectious Diseases by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. 

 Academic rank, salary and contractual arrangements will be commensurate with the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. For the successful candidate, compensation will be negotiated and will be competitive with the usual income range for an academic clinician-scholar in the Province of Ontario.
