Patient services include a full-service Emergency department at each site, advanced maternal and neonatal care in state-of-the-art birthing centres, and specialized paediatric care. In addition, SRH is home to a number of regional programs serving the central east Greater Toronto Area and beyond, including cardiac care, nephrology, vascular surgery, and vision care, and is recognized as a centre of excellence in orthopaedic surgery, cancer care, and mental health.

Hospital wide there are more than 6,000 deliveries per year.  NICUs are level IIc at the General and Centenary sites and level IIb at the Birchmount site.  A team of Obstetrician/Gynecologists, Family Physicians and Midwives provide comprehensive antenatal care for women and families in the Scarborough community.

Job Description

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Scarborough and Rouge Hospital, Centenary site (SRC), the Maternal Fetal Medicine Division of Sunnybrook Health Science Centre and the University of Toronto’s Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Division of MFM at the Faculty of Medicine are seeking a MFM Clinician Investigator/Educator. The successful candidate would participate fully in the clinical activities of the Program at SRC, including the obstetrical call schedule and teaching program. The successful candidate will be working with a strong, supportive, collegial and multidisciplinary group including Obstetricians, Family Physicians, Midwives, Endocrinologists and Genetic counsellors.    Expectations would be for the candidate to have advanced ultrasound skills (including ultrasound assessment of placental function, fetal anatomy and fetal well-being) and an interest in maternal disease state predictive modeling.  Patient information software include Astraia and Intellispace Perinatal.

In partnership with Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, the successful candidate will engage in one day per week of clinical research, in collaboration with the academic MFM Division at Sunnybrook.  This will be protected research time and will be focused within the recently established SOON obstetric network in which the candidate will likely play a leadership role.  The successful candidate will be cross appointed in the Division of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Sunnybrook Health Sciences, with the possibility of some clinical duties performed at Sunnybrook in addition to their academic work. 

Sunnybrook is recognized as a leader in the fields of multiple pregnancies and renal complications of pregnancy and is closely associated with the Centre for Maternal Infant and Child Research Unit (CMICR), which is internationally recognized for its expertise in the coordination of multi-centre, randomized controlled trials.  The candidate will have experience in and a commitment to research endeavours and will have completed a recognized MFM Fellowship Program.
