Canada-British Columbia-Squamish

Posted Jan 05Plant Eng-1554778

Company Information

Carbon Engineering is building technologies to capture CO₂ directly from the atmosphere, and to use that CO2 in the synthesis of clean transportation fuels that displace crude oil.

Our business is to provide the technology and facilities to synthesize global-scale quantities of clean fuels from air, water, and renewable power.

Job Description

Based in the outdoor recreation hub of Squamish, BC, this is a senior role for an engineer who understands chemical process and equipment and laboratory analytics. Experience in chemical or petrochemical process or water treatment plant operations would be ideal. Reporting to the Site Manager, you will be characterizing and improving the performance of the pilot plant equipment and processes, running major test campaigns, tracking pilot activities across shift changes and assisting with effective dissemination of information between the groups.

This is an opportunity to join a team focused on integrating atmospheric CO2 into liquid fuels production and a great match for a hands-on, curious individual who wants to be part of a start-up culture where your contributions are noticed.

Qualifications:

Education: BSc Chemical Engineering, MSc preferred.

Experience: minimum 5 years of technical work in a chemical or petrochemical process plant.

  • Equipment and process characterization, performance optimization and yield improvement.
  • Equipment and process cost reduction/efficiency improvement.
  • Statistical process control and process capability analysis.
  • Experiment design and data analysis.
  • Lab experience as it relates to process control and monitoring.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands on operational experience with chemical process equipment.

In addition to technical skills, the right fit will:

  • Be a self-starter with the ability to work independently towards multiple deadlines with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Have experience and comfort working in an R&D environment.
  • Thrive on doing things that have not been done before (explorer mindset).
  • Have either landed immigrant status or Canadian citizenship.
