As an experienced Commercial Underwriter, your primary role will be to evaluate Commercial business for acceptability and rate. This includes:
ü Expert knowledge of construction, occupancy, protection, exposures relating to commercial risks and the interpretation of policy wordings,
ü Expert knowledge in underwriting package classes and working knowledge of non-package classes of business,
ü Working knowledge of common exposures including appropriate risk identification, assessment, loss control, and processes,
ü Working knowledge of manual rating methodologies and in the use of X-rate and U-rate,
ü Farm underwriting experience would be considered a significant assets as the role may have the opportunity to expand beyond commercial lines,
ü Effective team building skills with a passion to share knowledge and build relationships with Brokers, Underwriting team and Claims team,
ü Sound judgement and confident decision making abilities,
ü Strong knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office programs,
ü Effective communication skills to interact with various internal and external contacts,
ü Ability to work confidently under pressure and multi task,
ü Superior customer service mindset; and
ü CIP/FCIP/CRM designation(s) would be considered an asset.
