 After our SGI CANADA launch in Ontario, we are looking for people to join our team in permanent and temporary Underwriting Assistant roles.  Apply to join our team at our Ontario Office (Etobicoke).  As an Underwriting Assistant you will be responsible for processing insurance policies; reviewing, evaluating and determining insurability for routine renewal insurance applications; and providing administrative support to the underwriting team.

 Key Accountabilities

 Underwriting and Processing: You’ll make sure that we’re delivering an out-of-this-world customer experience and support for all of our products. You’ll process both new and renewal transactions and review applications to determine the risk involved and whether to accept, modify, or reject each risk. It will be up to you to place business in accordance with the rules and restrictions of subscription, reinsurance and legislative guidelines.

Broker Relationships: You’ll build strong working relationships with brokers to generate a flow of profitable business. Drawing on those strong relationships, you’ll have to explain underwriting criteria and decisions to them on a daily basis.

Administrative: As an Underwriting assistant, you’ll also help keep the underwriting team up and running by making sure our files are in the right places and no broker call ever goes unanswered.

Candidate Requirements

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Office procedures and office equipment.

Computers and Microsoft Word and Excel.

Underwriting procedures. 

Principles and practice of insurance.


Education & Experience

One Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) course OR some post-secondary education specializing in insurance and risk management.

One year experience in an insurance industry office environment.
