Job Description

Under general supervision, the Marine Assistant is responsible for timely and accurate administration of all documentation and process surrounding the existing Western Region Marine Department book of business.   Provides high-level support to Marine underwriting department. 


  •  Manage all premiums including new business, renewals and endorsements within corporate guidelines.
  • Manage all required documentation issuance; act as Quality Control with respect to documentation process, whether issued by Broker or CNA
  • Provide user training, system support, referral/approval process
  • Complete underwriting reports, review and follow-up on recommendations of inspections, and analyze loss experience.
  • Work with underwriters to ensure all new and renewal business is properly documented. Drive consistency of process across the Department
  • Manage broker communications as required.
  • Assist in all Branch-related office administrative needs as required



  •  College diploma or equivalent business experience between 2 - 4 years Marine or Commercial Property and Casualty insurance experience. Preference given to candidates with Marine Insurance background
  • A proven track record in customer service coupled with excellent interpersonal skills.   Preferred candidates will possess experience dealing with and or have exposure to working in a Broker environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and time management skills.  Must be detail-oriented.
  • Ability to conceptualize details and develop action plans for problem solving and decision making.
  • An ability to work both independently and within a team environment with limited supervision
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
  • Progress towards completion of CIP designation is desired.
