Youth Coordinator – part-time (up to 21 hours/week)
A Youth Coordinator has the unique opportunity to be a positive role model for Simpcw youth. The Youth Coordinator will be responsible for the development and implementation of a youth program to include education, recreation, group activities, and social and cultural activities. The overall goal of the program is to provide skills development and experiential learning including, but not limited to, emotional regulation, peer relationships, self-esteem, decision-making, positive self-image, problem-solving, communication, conflict resolution, and connection to self, school, and community.
Job Responsibilities:
- Gathering information and assessing the wholistic needs of Simpcw youth
- In collaboration with the Community Counsellor, developing curriculum and programming
- Implementing a program plan to address the identified needs
- Liaising with internal and external partners
- Compiling and sharing resources with youth, including facilitating workshops, organizing guest speakers, organizing out-of-community activities, etc.
· Providing confidential one-on-one and/or group support and guidance
· Maintaining records, reports, case notes, and program evaluation
- Proposal writing and reporting to funding agencies
Qualifications:
· Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Social Work, or 3 – 5 years of a combination of education and relevant experience
· A valid Class 5 Driver’s License, a current Criminal Records Check, a clean Driver’s Abstract
· Class 4 Driver’s License, preferred
· Current First Aid Certificate and a Food Safe Certificate
Knowledge and Abilities:
· Experience with curriculum development and implementation
· Knowledge and experience with referral processes and formal assessments
· Experience and ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with allied professionals, parents/caregivers, knowledge keepers, and/or Elders
· Ability to work independently and in a team environment, with minimal supervision
· Knowledge and respect of the unique history of Indigenous people
· Knowledge of addictions, intergenerational trauma, PTSD, mental illnesses, and experience with trauma-informed practice
· Personal holistic self-care plan
· Availability to work evenings and weekends
Knowledge, or willingness to learn about the Secwepemc/Simpcw culture and traditional ways of being
Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 21 per week
Salary: $16.16-$27.97 per hour

- Barriere, BC V0E1E0: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
Licence/Certification:
- First Aid Certification (preferred)
