Job Summary
The Laboratory Technician (LT) Histology & Cytology provides a professional service in performing laboratory technical and non-technical functions under the supervision of the Laboratory Technologists
Qualifications
- Certificate from OSMT
- Graduate of Laboratory Technician training program
- 6 months experience in a hospital histology laboratory environment preferred
- Demonstrated ability in interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
- Excellent Customer Service skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of the variables that can affect specimen processing
- Ability to work well in a team environment and to foster good team building principles
- Ability to effectively prioritize and reprioritize with the demands of the job
- Ability to troubleshoot equipment (i.e. stainers, cover slippers, processor, centrifuges, cytospin, etc.)
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail necessary
- Regular attendance is a requirement of the position
- Training in the Transportation of Dangerous Goods with appropriate certification
- Demonstrated excellence in communication, both written and verbal
- Demonstrated problem assessment skills
- Demonstrated commitment to customer service and teamwork
- Demonstrated individual leadership skills
