CHIEF TUNNEL SURVEYOR

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Chief Tunnel Surveyor will be a vital project team member and will report to the Senior Project Manager. They will contribute a leading role in various projects primarily involving tunnel construction, from project conception through to project completion.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Diploma/Certificate/Degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, mining engineering, construction engineering or related fields and a minimum of 4 years’ experience tunnel surveying
- Proficient knowledge of survey theory, Total Station equipment and industry standards
- Class G Driver’s Licence
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Review and extract required survey design data from project design drawings
- Plan, implement and maintain accurate horizontal and vertical control network above and below ground for construction purposes
- Lead, organize and direct survey crews
- Perform layout for shafts, manholes, tunnel alignment, and various site layout
- Manage TBM guidance systems
- As-built surveys, quality checks, calculations and appropriate documentation in association with company and project standards
- Read and interpret project drawings and specifications for consistency and completeness
- Assist in performing quantity takeoffs, material estimating and ordering
- Work closely with the Project Manager and site Superintendent to develop and execute work in an efficient, productive and safe manner
QUALIFICATIONS
- Enthusiastic leader and team player
- Clear and concise communicator with proven written and oral skills
- Attention to detail with efficient time management skills
- Ability to work under pressure and adaptable to changing priorities
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, AutoCAD
- Experience with Leica Total Stations, level and laser systems
WORK CONDITIONS
- Working in the field on surface & underground both independently and with small crew
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment
- Moderate lifting and physical labour necessary
- Work near heavy equipment on a regular basis
- Work underground in various conditions including heat and humidity, dust, and noise
- Flexible hours as required
Work Remotely
Salary: $85,000.00-$115,000.00 per year
