THE OPPORTUNITY
- Ensure proper equipment set up for the different products, by safely assembling and/or disassembling the slicer machine
- Maintain slicer blades by sharpening and switching out blades as required
- Coordinate with team regarding slicing product timing
- Review paperwork to ensure all product being sliced is consistent with customer orders
- Responsible for adjusting the slicer settings to produce optimal sliced product as per the Standard Operating Procedures
- Responsible for pealing product and loading the slicer
- Responsible for retrieving racks from the cooler and bringing them to production line
- Responsible for accurately recording the weight of the racks into the computer system
- Required to be cross trained on multi slicers within the department (substitute employees on different lines)
- Communicate with Lead Hand and/ or Supervisor regarding any potential product quality issues and/or mechanical concerns
- Assist Lead Hand when required
- Responsible for maintaining food safety standards in work responsibilities and report food safety issues to QA immediately
- Work in a safe manner in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act by reporting all hazards, accidents, incidents or near misses to the Supervisor
- Follow all prescribed SOPs, rotation schedules, HACCP and GMP procedures
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
THE REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent communication skills; verbal and written
- Good manual dexterity
- Team-oriented and ability to multitask
- Have previous excellent attendance
- Knowledge of safe food processing is an asset
- Ability to repetitively lifting of product weighing between 3-20KG
- Must be able to wear steal toe boots, a hairnet, bump cap and hearing protection
- Possess a high level of attention to detail
- Ability to keep up with the machine speed and the production line
- Able to work in a cold environment
