Scope:
We are looking for a professional, high-energy bartender with excellent communication skills to serve classical cocktails and exciting new beverages to our customers. The bartender will greet customers, learn about their preferences, answer questions, recommend menu items, and prepare and serve beverages and food. You will also upsell items, create recipes, utilize proper equipment and ingredients, and handle basic cleaning duties.
To succeed as a bartender, you should have a neat appearance and an engaging, friendly personality. You should be efficient, observant, knowledgeable, and personable.
Primary Responsibilities:
Ø Welcoming customers, reading and listening to people to determine beverage preferences, making recommendations, and taking drink orders.
Ø Planning drink menus and informing customers about new beverages and specials.
Ø Selecting and mixing ingredients, garnishing glasses, and serving beverages to customers.
Ø Preparing drink orders for bar/restaurant servers (based on established ordering procedures) while also servicing guests in the bar area.
Ø Maintaining a clean and organized work area to maximize efficiency; setting up the bar and back bar according to established procedures.
Ø Taking inventory and assisting with the ordering of supplies to ensure bar and tables are well-stocked.
Ø Adhering to all food safety and quality regulations.
Ø Handling cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring charges are accurate and returning correct change to patrons, balancing the cash register.
Ø Maintaining a clean work and dining area by removing trash, cleaning tables, and washing glasses, utensils, and equipment.
Ø Developing new cocktail recipes.
Ø Checking identification to ensure customers are the legal age to purchase alcohol.
Ø Monitoring guest behavior and guest alcohol consumption to determine when alcohol service to the guest should cease; notifying management of incidents involving excessive alcohol consumption or impaired condition of customers.
Note: Other duties as assigned by Operations Manager / Floor Supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITY AND PROCEDURES
Ø Maintain active involvement in the accomplishment of the accident prevention and reduction objective. Take every precaution reasonable in the circumstances for the protection of all fellow team members.
Ø Inspect the restaurant area and adjacent facilities monthly or as often as necessary to ensure compliance with Federal and Provincial Health & Safety regulations.
Ø Work with management to ensure annual inspections of all safety equipment conducted.

Internal: Food & Beverage Dept (FOH & BOH)
External: Vendors: For purchasing and receiving supplies
Guests: To provide outstanding customer service
Qualifications:
Education/Experience: Proficient reading, writing and math. . Food service experience with general knowledge of restaurant operations is preferred.
Ø Specialized knowledge of bartending and mixing drinks.
Ø Advanced knowledge of Smart Serve program. Smart Serve certification required.
Ø Proficient knowledge of POS systems, ordering and inventory.
Ø A positive and “Can Do” attitude, with an eagerness to learn and work in a team environment.
Ø Excellent communication skills.
Ø Available to work on-call, shifts, after hours, over weekends, and on public holidays.
