Heavy-duty equipment mechanics report directly to the Fleet and Facility Manager. Heavy-duty equipment mechanics are industry mechanics who specialize in working with heavy machinery (Tractors / Trailers). They work with the biggest engines, troubleshooting, inspecting, servicing, and repairing damage to the engine and/or vehicle. The right candidate for this position will have a minimum of 5 years experience and will work closely with the mechanical team and our fleet and facility manager. The successful candidate will demonstrate both the ability to work independently and as part of a unit. The preferred candidate must have the mindset and willingness to go the extra mile and get things done. Clear communication skills (both written and verbal) are essential.
Key qualifications include:
· Working knowledge of Detroit 60-series and DD15's considered an asset
- Diagnostic, Electronics, Wiring and after treatment Experience.
· Valid class 5 operator license; class 3 would be considered an asset
- Experience with Ottawa Shunt Trucks (cummins) and asset.
This is a full-time, permanent hourly position (10 hours/ 4 days week/ consistent work week, no rotation). We offer good pay, health benefits and an optional group RRSP contributions after 3 months.
