The Pharmacy Licensee is a licensed pharmacist by Alberta College of Pharmacy and responsible for the overall management and operation of the pharmacy in compliance with the applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines set forth by the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) and other relevant authorities. The Licensee ensures that the pharmacy provides safe, efficient, and effective pharmaceutical care to patients, while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and ethical practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Regulatory Compliance:Ensure the pharmacy operates in accordance with the Pharmacy and Drug Act, the ACP Code of Ethics, the Standards of Practice for Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians, and other relevant federal and provincial laws and regulations.
Maintain the pharmacy license, ensuring timely renewal and adherence to all conditions and requirements.Collaborate with the pharmacy team to develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to comply with the regulatory framework.
- Pharmacy Operations:Oversee the day-to-day management of the pharmacy, including staff scheduling, inventory control, and workflow optimization.
Ensure the safe and secure storage of medications and controlled substances, in accordance with applicable guidelines and regulations.Collaborate with healthcare professionals to optimize patient care, providing medication therapy management and patient counseling as needed.Implement and maintain quality assurance and improvement initiatives to ensure the highest level of patient care.
- Staff Management and Development:Recruit, train, and supervise pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff.
Ensure staff competency and adherence to professional standards, providing ongoing education and support as needed.Foster a collaborative and positive work environment that promotes professional growth and development
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Doctor of Pharmacy degree from an accredited institution
- Active registration and good standing with the Alberta College of Pharmacy as a licensed pharmacist
- Prior experience in a pharmacy management or supervisory role is preferred
- Strong knowledge of pharmacy operations, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively
- Commitment to providing exceptional patient care and customer service
