Dr. Yousef lab is currently looking for a full-time (1.0 FTE) post-doctoral fellow to join our dynamic and growing research team on molecular diagnostics. This position is intended for Candidates with PhD training, who are on a career track to becoming independent scientists. The selected trainee will be actively involved in all aspects of research design, grant preparation, execution of experiments, data analysis/interpretation and publication of results. Selected candidate will have access to top-notch instrumentation within our laboratory/Institution and will join our team’s current efforts on personalized oncology, personalized cancer biomarker discovery and cancer therapeutics.
Duties/Responsibilities include research project management, working closely with PI in research troubleshooting, optimizations and conceptualization of novel ideas, in addition to writing and submission of research grant applications. The selected trainee will be responsible for statistical analysis, planning, execution and interpretation of study results, as well as preparing research-related documents (e.g. research ethics board applications, animal care committee forms). Other duties include developing strategic alliances with outside parties, and budget monitoring.
Environment/Lab Description
Dr. Yousef’s research laboratory is internationally recognized in miRNA research. It is one of the leading laboratories focusing on the cancer biomarkers in renal cell carcinoma and prostate cancer using an integrated genomic, quantitative proteomic, transcriptomic and miRNA approaches with extensive bioinformatics analysis. He has published extensively about the discovery of the kallikrein family of tumor markers and their roles as cancer biomarkers. Our research program is majorly focused on kidney cancer.

Previous experience in omic technologies (such as RNAseq, proteomics, microRNA profiling) and/or preclinical drug development will be considered an asset.
